Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how MEC IDIOMAS ("we", "us", or "the App") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our language-learning application. MEC IDIOMAS is an educational app that helps you learn English and Spanish through interactive lessons, including pronunciation exercises. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

This policy is provided in compliance with the General Data Protection Law of Brazil (LGPD), the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the requirements of the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information to operate and improve the App:

Account and authentication data: When you create an account or sign in, we process identifiers managed through Firebase Authentication (such as a user ID, and any email or credential you choose to use to sign in).
Learning progress and preferences: Your lesson progress, scores, streaks, settings, and study activity, stored on your device and synced to our cloud database (Firebase Firestore).
Voice and microphone data: When you use pronunciation exercises, the App accesses your microphone and uses speech recognition to evaluate and correct your pronunciation. Audio is processed to generate a result; we do not use your recordings to identify you.
Device and technical information: Device model, operating system version, language and region settings, app version, unique device and installation identifiers, and network information.
Usage and analytics data: Screens viewed, features used, session duration, interactions, and session recordings/heatmaps used to understand how the App is used and to improve it.
Diagnostics and crash data: Crash logs, error reports, and performance data to help us fix problems.
Advertising identifiers: With your permission, advertising identifiers (such as the Android Advertising ID and Apple's IDFA) used to deliver and measure advertising.
Purchase information: Records of in-app purchases and subscription status (managed through the app stores and RevenueCat). We do not collect or store your full payment card details.
Notification tokens: A push notification token so we can send you relevant updates and reminders.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Provide, maintain, and personalize the language-learning experience, including saving your progress across devices.
Evaluate and improve your pronunciation through speech recognition features.
Authenticate users and secure accounts.
Process subscriptions and in-app purchases and provide access to premium features.
Display advertising that helps keep the App free, and, with your consent, personalize that advertising.
Analyze usage to improve performance, fix bugs, and develop new features.
Send push notifications, reminders, and important updates.
Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

Permissions We Request

The App requests the following device permissions, each used only for the stated purpose:

Microphone: Required to record and evaluate your pronunciation during speaking exercises.
Speech Recognition: Used to transcribe and assess your spoken responses so we can correct your pronunciation.
Internet / Network access: Required to sync your progress, load content, and deliver ads and updates.
Advertising ID (Android) / Tracking (iOS App Tracking Transparency): Requested with your consent to show more relevant ads and measure their performance. You can decline, and the App will continue to work.
Notifications: Used to send study reminders and updates. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.

You may revoke any permission at any time through your device settings.

Advertising

The App displays advertising provided by Google AdMob to support a free experience. Depending on your consent and region, ads may be personalized (based on advertising identifiers and usage data) or non-personalized.

On iOS, we use Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework to ask for your permission before tracking you across apps and websites for advertising purposes. On Android, advertising relies on the Advertising ID. If you do not consent, you will still see ads, but they will be less tailored to you. You can reset or limit your advertising identifier at any time in your device settings.

We rely on trusted third-party services that may process certain data on our behalf. Each service maintains its own privacy policy:

How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as necessary to operate the App, including with the third-party service providers listed above, with the app stores for purchase processing, and when required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public. Some service providers may process data on servers located outside your country; we take steps to ensure such transfers are protected in accordance with applicable law.

Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App. Learning progress and account data are kept until you delete your account. Analytics, diagnostics, and advertising data are retained for the periods set by the relevant service providers. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls on our cloud infrastructure. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's Privacy

MEC IDIOMAS is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under this age. If a parent or guardian believes that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it. Where required by law, advertising shown to younger users is non-personalized.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you have the right to access, correct, update, or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, and to request a copy of your data (data portability). Under Brazil's LGPD and the EU GDPR, you may also lodge a complaint with the competent data protection authority. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.

Account Deletion

You can delete your account and associated personal data at any time. To request deletion, use the account deletion option within the App (if available) or send a request to diegoadriian6@proton.me with the subject "Account Deletion". Once verified, we will delete your account, learning progress, and associated personal data from our systems within a reasonable period, except for information we are required to retain by law.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal reasons. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you within the App. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
